Introduction: Key Factors in Model Selection

Firstly, the choice of slitting machine models,depending on the variety of packaging materials, specifications, production scale, degree of automation, and product quality, and other factors, there are different models slitting rewinding machines. The buyers should be considered from the following aspects:

1. The packaging material kinds:

Depending on the usage, packaging materials, packaging materials are mainly divided into two kinds: raw materials and flexible pacagking materials.

Raw Material Slitting: Large Scale and High Precision

Raw material, whether it is plastic film or paper, aluminum foil and other materials, normally it will be in larger size, the average width of 1.5 ~ 5 m, and may reach 7 ~ 8 m of the web width, the diameter of the roll is 1-2 m. After slitting the width of the web is generally 1 ~ 1.5 m, the roll diameter is 0.4 ~ 0.8 m, the paper reel diameter possible to reach 1.2 ~ 1.5 m; raw material has not been through printing, laminating, coating and other converting processes, the thickness is comparatively thinner, the length of the finished roll after slitting will be 4 000 ~ 8 000 m. Therefore, the raw material slitting rewinding machine’s requirements are wide, big unwinding and rewinding diameter, high slitting speeds. This determines the structure of the raw material slitter rewinder more sophisticated and high precision manufacturing and installation.

Flexible Packaging Materials: Diversity and High Throughput

Flexible packaging materials, including plastic, paper or other materials, finished roll in smaller size, generally the width is 200 ~ 600 mm, some width only 30 to 50 mm, mainly for food, daily necessities, medicine packaging or small size of product packaging,one kind is roll laminates materials for automatic packing machines directly, the other kind is ready for pre-formed plastic bag or pouch by  automatic bag making machine, roll diameter normally between 300 ~ 500 mm, after printing, coating, laminating and other converting processes, it will be thicker, after slitting the finished roll length normally will be 1200 ~ 2 000 m, therefore, the requirements for slitting machines are narrow, small diameter reel, speed should be medium or high speed.

Material Properties and Rewinding Methods

If the material has different properties, the slitting also in different ways, so using different slitter rewinder machine. Packaging materials generally have plastic and paper two kinds.

Plastic Packaging Materials: Managing Thickness Variations

Plastic packaging materials, in the manufacturing process, due to the characteristics of raw materials, precision manufacturing equipment, process parameter settings, and other factors affecting the technical level operatives, the thickness error is bigger, so it has larger diameter error of same length roll of packaging material. Therefore, to use dual-shaft slitting equipment for raw materials, independent drive for rewinding , printing and packaging materials using slitting machine with slip function of slip friction shaft rewinding.

Paper Packaging Materials: Stability and Winding Structure

Paper packaging material, since the material thickness error is smaller, the roll diameter of the same length packaging materials the error is small. Therefore, thicker paper slitting slitting machines use single shaft for unwinding and rewinding. To prevent the occurrence of single-shaft winding with "overlap edge side", thinner paper slitting rewinding machine generally use single shaft for unwinding, double shaft in surface winding way for rewinding.
